Re-Commerce Atacama is a sustainable fashion initiative created by VTEX in partnership with local NGOs to tackle the growing problem of textile waste in the Atacama Desert, Chile. Instead of leaving discarded clothes to pollute the desert, the project rescues and restores selected garments, turning them into collectible fashion items. These pieces are then offered for free through an e-commerce platform — users only pay for shipping. The profits from the shipping fees help fund the cleanup efforts. The initiative transforms waste into impact, raising global awareness about fast fashion pollution and proving that sustainability can be both scalable and desirable.
